Service Delivery

The Operations manager following the receipt of a summary of the care needs assessment initially assesses each new service. This assessment takes into account the needs and wishes of the service user and covers what sort of service is needed.

If Individual Care Services can provide a service which meets the assessed needs risk assessments are completed and a care plan drawn up for each person, this is evaluated and reviewed on a regular basis and updated for changing needs. Our hours of operation vary according to each person's own unique specific needs and may be on a very flexible basis. The hours of service we provide range from very minimal support to 24-hour care.

How much does it cost?

Cost is based upon an hourly rate for actual hours of service delivered, although there may be a charge for contracted services cancelled at short notice. There may also be an element of traveling expenses. In certain circumstances there may also be a one-off charge to set up the service, particularly if specific training is required. Actual charges will be influenced by the number of hours of service provided and the level of support required for individual cases.

Community Support Workers

The primary role of the support staff is to provide personal assistance and support to individual clients in accordance with their wishes. We believe continuity of care is an important part of delivering a good standard of care and support, we will therefore aim to ensure that same staff will support a client as long as we are providing support to them. The aims, philosophy and service principles set out the framework within which they work. However, there are wide and varied ranges of role elements that contribute to the tasks carried out to enable the service users to reach their full potential.

Training & Qualifications of Support Workers

All support workers are required to undertake a detailed and thorough induction programme before they begin supporting clients. The induction provides our staff with the fundamental knowledge they require to be effective support workers, the training provided covers all of the statutory requirements (e.g. health & safety, administration of medication, fire safety, food hygiene, moving and handling etc.). Also included is care planning, implementing the service principles, specific care issues relating to the needs of individual clients (e.g. epilepsy) and team-work. The induction programme follows the Common Induction Standards.  Continuing training needs will be met in response to individual staff’s performance reviews and development plans, as well as the staff training necessary in enabling clients to achieve their potential. An active NVQ programme has been developed and staff are given the opportunity to achieve NVQ 2 or 3 in care.
